Bike rider on a country road

Why do men fall for bikes? What does it posses that make us madly in love with them? Bikes are one of the most wonderful inventions made by man, a machine with beauty, power and passion. It can define the person ridding it and can even mold one's personality. People always respect and admire great bikes and the ones riding them. I pride myself in owing one, a Royal Enfield Classic 350 1991 model. It’s called a bullet and hell it should be as it leaves a  mark on the minds of all who see it.  It’s a powerful muscular bike but to me it’s my lovely lady, my Royal black beauty (ROBY). Her beauty lies not only in her looks but in whatever she does, the HISH... sound she makes when I adjust her ampere, the vibration I get when she starts,  the powerful sound she makes when I turn the throttle and so on. Whenever I kick her lever hard or jerk with her gears, I will apologize and will pat on her bulged smooth fuel tank with my left hand.  Talking to a machine seems weird to most but to a bike rider it’s not, because he knows how it feels to talk to his ride in a lone drive. Those who hate bikes, I am sure you haven’t rode one; it’s not about the adrenalin rush alone but also about the joy and freedom the ride renders. If you want to enjoy a ride then ride alone, there should be only one companion for a true rider and that’s his bike. You should love it, take good care of it and above all respect it, believe me when I say it; it will do the same for you too.

Plain road, great scenery and no traffic is a rider's dream and to be a rider all you need is a bike and a road. So start your engines, let’s go for a ride.

I was standing and it felt like a hard surface underneath. Darkness surrounded me and my eyes were trying its best to adjust to the dim light from a street lamp few meters away.

“Where am I” I asked. Though I could see a shady shape, maybe a person perhaps standing next to me, nothing at all was clear.

“In front of my house” a male voice answered me, it wasn’t a familiar one nor was it friendly, “Can we go inside my house” he asked me.

His house, I don’t remember going to any ones house. I looked around but it was pitch black all around and all I could see was the lone street lamp bathed in its dim yellow light.

“Who is he” I wanted to ask him but I didn’t, instead I answered him “You go on, I will be there in few minutes”, I watched as he moved into the darkness and disappeared.

Now I can see where I was standing, right at the centre on a tar road and all alone in the darkness.  It was then it came to my notice, an arch way at the end of the road and a few steps behind the street lamp. It wasn’t there before or is it that I didn’t notice it earlier.

“No, it wasn’t there” a simple arch structure covered in small shining cherry red tiles. It shinned beyond the yellow lamp light thus making it magical and was welcoming me to it. If it was there earlier I wouldn’t have missed it by any chance. Before I could knew I already started walking towards it and was now right in front of it. I stood there for some moment mesmerized by its beauty.

The arch lead to a way in which single tiles are paved one after the other to form a single straight path. The tiles were smooth and shiny, and resembled a wonderful painting made of cherry red and black colours. Somehow the path was lit by enough light to show its beauty and smoothness. At the end of the path there were wooden handrails which lead down. I put my foot one after the other and started walking slowly towards the rails.

Now I was only a step away from the mysterious looking wooden rail and was curious about what I might find down there. I reached for the rails; suddenly a bright white light engulfed me. I closed my eyes tight as the light was so intense.

When I opened my eyes again there wasn’t any light instead it was darkness all around me. The beautiful arch, shiny tiles, wooden rails everything has disappeared. I couldn’t see, hear or feel anything; it felt like that I don’t have air around me to breathe. I searched for the rails so that I could hold on to them but couldn’t find it.

“I need to move forward” I thought and put my right foot forward.

To my surprise I got bounced of the surface, moved a bit in the air and made a gentle landing. The ground was hard but it felt there was little gravity on it. I made another step and the same happened again. Now I got curious, I stamped both my foot hard on the ground and got bounced upward.

“I am flying” I said to myself. The warm air passed by kissing my entire body and giving me Goosebumps. “I am flying” I said it again and again. Is this the most wonderful feeling one can have, I felt calm and relaxed; I closed my eyes, opened both arms wide and put my chin up so that I could relish the freedom of flight.

It started to fade and was fading into blankness. Its then only I felt it, I was dreaming and was going to wake up soon. It felt great; I was free, free from all bonds and had never felt so happy to be all alone. I tried harder and harder to hang on to the dream.

“I don’t want to wake up” I thought; I wanted to be in the dream for ever.

“No, I don’t want it to be a dream; I want it to be real”.

It felt real but it wasn't and I woke from a strange yet beautiful dream. Now I know what real freedom is, it is the thing that I can imagine but never achieve.

girl breaking the ropes and flying to the sky

Freedom, the born right of all human beings, the born right of all that’s living. Amongst all other creatures the one that longs for freedom the most are humans, this is due to the superior mental ability we have than the rest. We are social beings which depends on each other for our survival, in a social structure all actions done and all decisions taken by an individual will knowingly or unknowingly depend on other individuals who are part of the same system. When considering freedom in its common form, the base of it is free will that is the capacity to take our own decisions, irrespective of the outcome and without others interference.  Since humans are social beings the existence of free will itself is at doubt.

Freedom is a general term that is heard and used quite commonly in our lives that often arises when someone interferes with our judgment or will. Though it seems that freedom is simple and can be attained easily, freedom itself is an unattainable state. If one is willing to go deep in to know the true meaning of freedom then he will be able to understand its three basic forms, Physical freedom, Spiritual freedom and Eternal freedom. For one to attain true freedom all the three forms has to be gained. So I am putting forth the three barriers that we all will face if we try to attain it.

There are so many limitations to the human body because of which one can’t accomplish all his physical desires, that is the desire to fly as free as a bird, the desire to breath under water and so on. Thus physical limitation is the first barrier in the way to attain freedom. In order to overcome this, one can depend on the advancing technologies and can thus attain physical freedom. Today’s technologies won’t be enough to accomplish all our physical desires but it will be possible in future. The next barrier is humanly attachments and this affects the free will of an individual. All the decisions that he makes in his entire life time will be due to or for the people around him. So to attain spiritual freedom one must free himself from all emotional bonds. This is possible only through spiritual awakening that is by realizing and accepting the truth about life, thus one attains spiritual freedom.  After freeing oneself from all physical limitations and emotional bonds now there remains one more barrier and is unconquerable by all means. It’s the ultimate truth of life and is named as death. Though one can try hard and attain both physical and spiritual freedom, he won’t be able to enjoy it forever. Birth always ends in death, it’s an undeniable truth of life and no one can attain freedom from that, thus one can’t attain eternal freedom.

There are so many great men born among us like Buddha, Christ,  Mahavira, Vivekananda, Sree Narayan Guru, Osho and so on who had succeed in attaining spiritual freedom but couldn’t attain the other two. For our future generations attaining both spiritual and physical freedom would be possible, but even then they won’t be able to attain eternal freedom. Long ago humans realized this truth and it’s this realization that made them create a superior being, a being capable of attaining all the three forms of freedom, a being that he can admire, a being that he can never become. Then along the way he started believing in it, worshiping it, dividing it and started fighting for it. Humans are curious creatures, who always admire, love and believe in things that he can’t do and the irony is that this became his greatest strength.

We are the FOOLS

'we are the fools' written in a yellow sheet

First of all Happy birthday to all my friends who are bone on this wonderful day, I wish you all a long and prosperous life. Now let me tell you what made me to write this post. Today is a big day for a nation that has been longing for a democratic government since 1962, in Myanmar the NLD party lead by Aung San Suu Kyi is going to make their presence in the parliament most likely by winning all the 44 seats that they are representing.  As I heard the date of the election, it made a laugh out of me, is there a better date to conduct an election, the biggest show in which the common man all around the world are made a fool out of themselves. In my opinion all the elections around the world should be conducted on April 1st, do you know why, because look how good the people we elected are at lying and deceiving us. They will promise us whatever we want before the election and will act as the fools, but once they are elected it’s an irony. So if the elections are conducted on April 1st at least we can console ourselves that we have been April fooled and admit we are Super fools!
