Thought & LOVE

Couple sitting on a coconut tree, sun set
Humans are the most gifted species on earth, as they are given two wonderful gifts that no other species have, the gift of pure thought and pure love. The human thoughts have no bounds. He can think about anything that's possible and impossible, both spontaneously and simultaneously. Great thoughts are the reason why we all survived this far.

Thought and love are properties having both physical and spiritual existence. The physical existence of pure thought is the creation of masterpieces and great inventions, while that of pure love is in the beauty of sex and this eventually leads to the greatest creation, the birth of a new life. These outcomes can go the other way too, love can pave way to creation of art and thoughts (not in the right way) can lead to sex. Former is the right way of doing and later is the wrong way (Purely my perspective). This reverse outcome is possible because of yet another gift given to man, free will. He has given the will to manipulate the physical existence of thought and love.  While it can be physically manipulated, the spiritual existence of both can’t be altered or manipulated, because in the spiritual existence both lead to the same outcome, salvation. The spiritual existence of thought and love which is inside us is what we call as the god within ourselves (Aham Brahmasmi - as said in Vedas). It depends on each individual that how he channels this spiritual existence to the physical world. If he is able to channel the spiritual existence in its true form to the physical world, then there lies the extreme physical existence of thought and love that is salvation, and this is the true existence, which eventually leads to godly greatness like that of Buddha, Christ and it goes on…

Shades of INDIA

"Posts by Guests who writes in my blog like a Gust"

The cultural heritage of India

“After the conversations about Indian philosophy, some of the ideas of Quantum Physics that had seemed so crazy suddenly made much more sense.”
~ W. Heisenberg (German Physicist)

“If there is one place on the face of earth where all the dreams of living men have found a home from the very earliest days when man began the dream of existence, it is India!”
~ Romaine Rolland (French writer)

“In religion, India is the only millionaire……the One land that all men desire to see, and having seen once, by even a glimpse, would not give that glimpse for all the shows of all the rest of the globe combined.”
~ Mark Twain (American writer)

Be it the unity in diversity or religious acceptance, scientific achievements or Vedic preachment, dream land or nightmare for poor… India has always been the stage for almost anything moral, immoral, mortal and immortal values. Many renowned personalities all around the world had been mentioning about India in one or the other occasion, for righteous reasons. At the same time our nation was in the news for many more wrong reasons. Of course, every nation is like a coin- having heads and tails in its history. We may call it “Shades of the Nation”. It’s a fact that India, among all the nations has maximum colours in its shades and here are some of them:

  • A well known and well promoted fact all around the world is that India is “Over 450 million people are living under the poverty line, accounting India as a host to over 40% of the world’s poverty.” But at the same time, Forbe’s list of billionaires 2011, contains two persons with Indian nationality, only behind USA.
  • World is seeing Indians as snake charmers or some random Bharathanatyam dancers while we(Indians) are going to occupy 25% of the world’s new workers in next three years(according to THE HINDU).
  • While India is considered as one of the few countries who pray female deities, 500,000 female births are gone missing due to illegal abortions in recent decades!

    A grade offices
  • While movies and some reality shows are rumouring that India has lesser ‘A grade’ offices than tiny countries like Singapore (based on the old facts), facts state that in Bangalore, there are more A grade offices than Singapore increasing its office supply by 6 times as compared to 2006.
  • It’s a less known fact to many people that India has one of the best defence force in the world spending $50 billion on defence purchases in the last decade
  •    250 million people do not have access to the drinking water in India. While, some place called Cherrapunji, far away in the east, receives 425 inches of rainfall every year, becoming the wettest place on earth.

Indian Actors
  •     Even Indians admire Hollywood as the biggest film industry, while India sold 3.2 billion tickets last year, forming a bigger market than US and Canada combined!
Oil price hike
  •     Thousands of litres of oil is used in the worshipping of lord Hanuman and drained off, while petrol rates in India have reached 82.6 rupees/litre, highest ever!

The list goes on and on. Main purpose of the list is that there’s no need to be ashamed of being and Indian as there are many proud things about us and there are many issues which need to be sorted out to make our country a biased coin with only good things to say about!

Proud to be an Indian.

man walking at night through a moon lit way

I have friends, a lot in fact, they were always nice to me, loved me and stood near me when ever needed, but I felt all alone and detached. A little did I know that I created a barrier between me and others, the one through which not even my parents could pass, the one which made me fall in love with loneliness. It felt like dark and cold inside, as if I am not needed in this world, as if I am dead. Four walls surrounded me, I can’t see beyond them, only darkness all around, they are closing in fast now; soon I won’t be able to move and there won’t be much air left for me to breath. All trapped in and counting, my heart beat which I could hear as clearly as a bass drum, counting and counting as it is slowing down, felt dizzy and will fall soon into sleep, my last sleep from which I won’t wake up, remembering the biology lessons as a jock, humans need oxygen to survive and the jock remains that I don’t want to survive. It wasn't hard for me though, to give up, living a life was hard but leaving it, as easy as an eye blinks. Is it selfish to think like this, I don’t know and who is there to tell me otherwise.
Tears roll down from the eye side

A lightning struck me on my chest; it pierced in and hit the heart. I opened my eyes with a heavy inhale of air and a thrust of white light into it, hurting it, forcing me to shut it tight. After few seconds I opened my eyes slightly and could see some white coats and each having a face above it, none familiar. I was lying on a bed, all sweaty and breathing heavy. Was it a dream, I wondered, dream or not, I searched among the faces frantically for the ones that are familiar to me, that of my parents, my brother, my love, my friends but none was there. All my life they were always there to help when I was in need, but I refused them and didn't even appreciate what they were doing for me, I was arrogant and more over stupid. And now look at me, lying in a bed surrounded by strangers and searching for their faces, I wanted all of them by my side; I wanted to say sorry to them for being so selfish, for realizing this late what wonderful life I had. “Oh god, what have I done”. It’s true that there is none better than you to understand yourself, but if you want an inspiration to life, a purpose for living, then you need all your loved ones. I understand it now, how much I needed them, my family, my love, and my friends they all tried their best to make me understand why this life is so beautiful but I couldn't and it is too late now. I am falling to sleep again, now I know what is real, I am going to die.  As I closed my eyes, tears rolled down from the ends of my eyes wetting my pale skin.

P.S : Dedicated to my late loving friend D.K.V.

The Writer of COMMON MAN (Beypore Sultan)

Cartoon of the Beypore Sultan with the gramophone by his side

As usual I made up a title in my mind for my post and was thinking about a start. Suddenly everything went blank and all I can think about is his works, this made me to write a few words about him and his way of writing. To start, he is my favorite author and the one who inspired me the most to write on my own. It’s not that he tells to write, it’s his language that makes me feel that I can write as beautifully as he does.  Though it’s not possible to even think half as beautiful as he does, I do try my best. The language he uses is so natural and simple; it’s this simplicity in his words that deeply touches the readers and gave him the nick name The writer of common man. He is a man with a strong character and so much life experience, and its essence can be seen in all his works, a writer who really knew the might of his pen. He possessed the most wonderful ability to represent the complexity and hardships of life in a simple and humorous way, thus puts the readers in a state of enigma of tear, laughter and thoughts. The only other person that I know who possessed the same ability is the great Charley Chaplin.

Vaikom Muhammad Basheer, that’s his name, most of you haven't heard of him, it’s because he wrote only in Malayalam (my mother tongue). Though translations of his works are made in many languages including English,  I am so sorry to say my friends if you want to read the works of this genius then you should learn to read and understand Malayalam, it’s because how much good the translation be, it won’t be half as goods as the Sultan's original works. If you do know how to read Malayalam then go to a library get any of his books and start reading, you will be amazed by the beauty of Malayalam.
