Not Love

Alley by the Lake by Leonid Afremov, Rainy Day, walking together, Painting

She asked me what love is and I couldn't give an answer then. Love is the only word on which each person can give an interpretation of his own; there is no right or wrong about it because no one really knows what love is and what it means. Some hate it, some embrace it, some so blinded by it that they give their life for it.  The word always leaves someone hurt, sometimes your family, sometimes your friends and sometimes yourself or the other, pity it’s so because I thought this words was meant to keep everyone happy. So I asked myself ‘what is love?’ I struggled to find an answer to it for a while but the more I thought into it the more it became clear to me. I am trying to answer a fantasy with reality, the fantasy is love and the reality is her.

I don’t know what love is, I don’t know how it should be felt. Love is just a mere word to me, a word that people use to deceive, trick and use others for their own happiness. I may have no knowledge about love but I do know what she is to me and how I feel for her. I don’t want a corrupted word like love to describe it because to me she is my freedom, something I value more than my life. Even if I am shackled to the ground, speechless, deafened and blinded, a thought of her presence sets me free, breaks those shackles, makes me speak louder than I ever could, hear beyond I could ever hear and see everything more brightly and beautifully.  When I am with her my mind is clear and limitless as the space itself, I fly beyond all boundaries that I thought I couldn't cross before. I feel proud in caring for her and protecting her, I like doing things that she asks me to, however silly or hard it is, I feel happy seeing her smiling and sad when she looks so. So let me say it again “I don’t know what love is and don’t want to know, but I do know what she is to me”. As time runs I will die eventually but my words will remain forever telling the world that there is something beyond mere love that is very much real and most beautiful.

Which side to support, PALESTINE or ISRAEL?

Palestine and Israel peace flag pins
Too much muttering is going on among many Indians about the Palestine Israel conflict. So many photos of dead children, burned houses, crying mothers and many more are circulating on facebook declaring their support for Palestine. Most of it insist or even plead to the Indian government to support Palestine and criticize Israel for its brutal actions. The episode that is taking place now is not at all one sided as most suggest, the Hamas are raining missiles over Israeli towns too but the reason for less or no causalities from the Israeli side is because of its counter missile systems.  The Israelis are protecting their citizens while the Hamas are failing in that aspect.  More than a dispute for territories, it’s a conflict between two religions and that alone gives both countries this much attention in the international level. If the religious aspect in this matter is the only criterion for a third nation to take a side, then India should side neither, first of all we already have few matter of conflict of our own to worry about and second taking a side in this case will only cause more religious tensions within the country.

I don’t want to explain the details about the conflict and conclude my views, if I do that someone will definitely try to read out favoring in my lines. As far as I am concerned both sides are responsible for the state they are in now because if one takes the religion out of this madness then there won’t be a conflict at all. The question about which side deserve justice, Palestine or Israel is the same as asking which born first, the chicken or the egg, picking one is almost impossible unless a god (or religion) is involved. Now I will come to the main point that made me write this post, why most of my friends and many others are so interested in supporting Palestine, is it really because of the concern for human lives or is it because of one particular religion involved in it. If they say it is for the sake of human lives only, I will call them liars because few years back a brutality much worse than this happened in a small island which lies to the south of our nation, Sri Lanka (26-year military campaign ended in 2009). There was no just in the massacre that took place there and the government that did it is still ruling that country, no slogans or cries were heard from (except from the Tamil people) the now so called humanitarians at that time, is it because it wasn't a religion that was under attack there. I am not pointing fingers at any one at all, some of us do really care about people’s life and wants to put an end to all these inhuman acts but supporting one side won’t do that. Raise banners and shout slogans for peace, not for supporting and promoting more violence. Let’s support the innocent people in both Palestine and Israel who wish to live a normal life like all others. Support for a solution not for slaughter.

Clay POT

Drawing, poetry, clay, fire, water

The clay pot sitting peacefully on top of a stone stove giving the rain water a spot to rest, a spark flies from nowhere to light a small fire.

Under the pot the leaves are dry while the rest lay around soaked by the morning fall, thus the clay pot gives shelter to the fire and thus allows it to flower.

For the one watching it would seem the flame gently touching the bottom of the pot, and heating the water that rest inside to steam that rises free.

In truth the fire is bashing the earthy clay trying to find a way through to burn free and wild, while the water inside prefers to rest than to be free.

The flame flickering red and blue tries as hard as it could to burn through, manages only to send its heat through to teach the clay pot a lesson or two.

Her body blackens and skin tightens the clay reaches its limit to bear heat, so passes it on to the water it bears.

The flame blames her for forbidding its freedom and the water blames her for letting it free, but neither comes to know the truth.

The clay pot can’t move on its own sit helpless on the stone stove neither selfish nor a blabber, takes all the blames with no rue thus prevents a quarrel between the two.

The fire burns out and the water vapours off, both blaming the clay pot for her deed who helped them out in need.

The clay pot sits still in its place for ages helping others in need and maintaining peace, expecting nothing in return for her generous deeds.
